David Alden's gripping production, co-produced with English National Opera, returns to Deutsche Oper Berlin with some of the finest interpreters of Benjamin Britten's haunting exploration of the complexities of good, evil, and duty. Burkhard Ulrich returns with his nuanced presentation of the tormented Captain Vere, Gidon Saks once again tackles Claggart, and John Chest brings his stong, bright presence back to the title role. Donald Runnicles leads the soloists, orchestra, and marvelous men's chorus, and Seth appears as Lieutenant Redburn.
