Vera Nemirova directs this new production of Vasco da Gama, the first in a cycle of major Meyerbeer operas being staged at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. The conductor will be Enrique Mazzola, who recently triumphed in the Berliner Philharmonie with his concert performance of Meyerbeer’s Dinorah. Seth is appearing as Don Pedro with a cast including Roberto Alagna as Vasco da Gama, Nino Machaidze as Ines, Markus Brück as Nelusco, and Sophie Koch as Selica.
